I ran the Blackpool Summer 10K this summer — great event, great medal. It got me thinking: watch a real Blackpool medal being engraved in under 30 seconds, on-site, while the runner watches.
The medal

The front of your Blackpool Summer 10K & 5K 2026 medal is untouched — the wave, the tower, the runners, the date. All of it stays exactly as you designed it. Every engraving happens on the blank brushed metal reverse, so the finisher artwork you commissioned never gets covered.

Precision positioning
We frame it first. Then we engrave.
Before any mark is made, the xTool F1 Ultra traces a live blue frame onto the blank rear face of the medal — the exact box where the name will sit. The operator nudges the medal until it lines up, then closes the lid. What you see previewed is exactly what gets engraved.

The xTool F1 Ultra is a dual-source (fibre + diode) laser in a fully enclosed Class 1 cabinet. Zero exposed beam, zero risk to spectators, permanent fibre-laser marking on metal — the same technology used for industrial serial numbers and medical instruments.

The result
